Kamala Harris Tries to Roast Trump’s Border Wall on CNN—Anderson Cooper’s Brutal Fact-Check Could End Her Campaign (Video)
Kamala Harris’s town hall event on CNN tonight was a disaster, and it might just spell the end of her campaign. When the topic turned to the border crisis, Harris tried to deflect by mocking Trump’s border wall plan. But Anderson Cooper wasn’t having it and pressed her hard on the issue.
Harris, visibly rattled, tried to brush off the criticism by laughing and reminding the audience that Trump once claimed Mexico would pay for the wall. But what happened next was brutal. Cooper quickly fact-checked her, pointing out that she had actually supported a bill allocating $650 million for border wall construction.
“Didn’t you call Trump’s wall a stupid medieval vanity project?” Cooper asked. Harris stumbled through her response, trying to claim she supports “good ideas,” but the damage was already done. Cooper pushed further: “So, you don’t think the wall is stupid anymore?”

I did not have Anderson Cooper cooking Kamala on my bingo card but here we are.
She’s exposed as a total hypocrite here. First the wall was racist, stupid and xenophobic but now that she needs votes she’s pandering. pic.twitter.com/ctk6nmQcvZ

Harris rambled, trying to say Trump’s plan didn’t make sense, but when she finally admitted, “I want to strengthen our border,” it was clear she was on shaky ground. Even CNN’s Dana Bash couldn’t save her, noting afterward that Harris had failed to “close the deal” with voters.

Cooper didn’t let her off easy, either. In a moment that could define her failed campaign, he reminded Harris that she’s been in the White House for nearly four years and yet nothing substantial has been done to secure the border. Harris, caught off guard, struggled to respond and choked, saying only that she was “pointing out things that need to be done.”
It was a brutal fact-check and a moment Harris may not recover from as Cooper exposed the inconsistencies in her stance on the border wall.
CNN: You've been in the White House for four years. Why haven't you done any of this already?
KAMALA: "I'm pointing out things that need to be done that haven't been done that need to be done."
